I need some help. I have a speech I have to give in two weeks and I don't know what to do it on.

Here's the prompt:

Culture Artifact Speech: This speech asks you to speak about the significance of an artifact to a specific culture, co-culture, or sub-culture. An artifact may be a material object, a person, an event, a place, a concept or a way of thinking. You should strive to contextualize the artifact wthin a culture and clarify why it is important for audience members to know about the artifact in relation to the culture. Past topics have included the importance of the coca leaf for natives of Colombia and Mexican-American identification with the Lady of Guadalupe

I have *no* idea what I should be doing this speech on, so any and all suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I love you. :)

I am *so* sorry I didn't catch you last night. I got back from dinner and I'm on the phone and sit down and I start yelling into the phone "Holy shit! Quinn was on and I missed her! Damn it! I am *never* leaving the apartment again!!"

Needless to say I scared the phone person and the roomate. Hehe..

Bloody intimidating "past topics" there!

So what WAS Quinn's suggestion? :-)

Bra.

She thinks I should do it on how important the Bra is to women's culture.

Quinn is my hero. ;)

I'm not so good with abstract thought right now, but here's some objects you could maybe use as a starting point. Or maybe examples of what not to do. :)

Anything religious like a cross, a medallion with a saint on it, stuff like that.
You could do other jewlery too, like a wedding ring, class ring.
You could do something about those rubber bracelets that used to mean you supported a cause but now they just have your name printed on them & other random shit.
You could talk about how everyone has a cell phone now and how it has caused the entire population to have increased separation anxiety.

um, yea - I give up now

Good luck!

You thought about that a lot harder than I did. LOL.

I like jewelery... I wonder if I could work that in somehow. Hmmm....

Thanks for the suggestions. :)
